Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Auditor to oversee and ensure accuracy in payroll processes, salary disbursements, and compliance with Indian labour laws and statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting periodic audits, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring complete statutory and legal compliance across all payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit payroll records and systems to ensure accurate salary processing for all employees (including full-time, part-time, contractors, etc.).
Verify compliance with applicable Indian labour laws (e.g., Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, EPF Act, ESIC, Gratuity, Bonus, etc.).
Review and validate statutory deductions (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS) and ensure timely remittance and filing.
Ensure payroll complies with company policies, employment contracts, and applicable collective bargaining agreements, if any.
Conduct regular audits of payroll systems, reconciliations, and reporting tools.
Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to verify employee attendance, leave balances, and incentive payouts.
Identify payroll errors or anomalies and recommend corrective measures.
Prepare audit reports and present findings to management along with compliance risk assessments.
Stay updated on changes in Indian employment and tax laws and suggest policy changes accordingly.
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, auditing, or compliance in an Indian corporate setup.
Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws, payroll taxes, and statutory compliance.
Proficiency in payroll software (Keka, Tally) and MS Excel.
Attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with multi-state payroll and understanding of regional statutory norms.
Prior experience in payroll audit for mid to large-sized organizations. (300+ entity)
