As the GCP Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud-based solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will manage the technical aspects of cloud architecture, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical leadership to ensure best practices in cloud strategy, performance optimization, and cost management. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership, and hands-on experience in building scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Strategy: Architect, design, and implement GCP solutions that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
- Cloud Migration: Lead migration projects from on-premise or other cloud environments to GCP, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact cloud projects.
- Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
- Performance & Cost Optimization: Optimize GCP architectures to improve performance, reduce costs, and maintain high availability.
- Automation & CI/CD: Implement automated deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Cloud Build to streamline development and reduce manual intervention.
- Security: Ensure adherence to security best practices, including IAM, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Cloud Solutions Development: Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications using GCP services like Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and resolution of cloud infrastructure and application issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years in cloud infrastructure with at least 3+ years specifically in GCP.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Cloud Functions.
- Cloud Architecture: Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud-native applications and microservices on GCP.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, or Bash, along with experience in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
- CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Cloud Build.
- Containerization: Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and GKE for containerized application deployment.
- Networking & Security: In-depth understanding of GCP networking, IAM policies, and security best practices.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading teams and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver large-scale cloud projects.
- Certifications: GCP Professional Cloud Architect or GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certifications (highly preferred).
