Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Azure IoT Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable IoT networks on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in networking principles, Azure IoT Suite, and securing end-to-end IoT deployments across distributed environments.
Key Responsibilities:
IoT & Azure Infrastructure:
- Design and deploy IoT solutions using Azure IoT Hub, IoT Edge, Azure Digital Twins, and related services.
- Configure and manage IoT device provisioning (DPS), device twins, message routing, and telemetry ingestion.
- Architect and maintain secure and scalable IoT network topologies to support thousands/millions of devices.
Networking & Security:
- Design and manage network architecture for IoT deployments including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and ExpressRoute/VPN.
- Ensure secure connectivity between edge devices and cloud services using TLS, X.509 certificates, and IP filtering.
- Implement Zero Trust architecture for IoT deployments, integrating with Azure Defender for IoT.
Monitoring & Automation:
- Set up monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and custom dashboards.
- Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM Templates, or Terraform.
- Automate deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions for continuous integration and delivery of IoT configurations.
Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with firmware, cloud, and software teams to ensure seamless device-cloud integration.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues across devices, gateways, cloud services, and network paths.
- Document network designs, security policies, and deployment playbooks for IoT projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 410 years of experience in network engineering, with 2+ years in Azure and IoT platforms.
- Strong expertise in:
- Azure IoT Hub, IoT Edge, DPS
- Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, NAT, VPN, Subnetting, Firewall Rules)
- Azure Networking services (VNet, NSGs, ASGs, Private Link, Load Balancers)
- Certificates & authentication protocols (X.509, SAS tokens, OAuth2)
- Hands-on experience with protocols like MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, and edge communication standards.
- Proficiency with Terraform, ARM/Bicep, and scripting in PowerShell or Python.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Azure certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure IoT Developer Specialty
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Experience with industrial IoT protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet).
- Familiarity with real-time data ingestion platforms like Azure Event Hubs or Azure Data Explorer.
- Knowledge of Edge computing and containers using Docker/Kubernetes on Azure Stack Edge.
