Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Graphic Artist who will be responsible for designing, formatting, and optimizing graphics for print and digital publications. They must ensure high-quality output, color accuracy, and compliance with publishing standards. The role also involves collaboration with editors, designers, and production teams to prepare materials for final publication.
Key skills:
- Create and edit artwork, advertisements, and illustrations for print and digital publications.
- Format, retouch, and optimize images while maintaining high quality and resolution.
- Ensure proper color correction, DPI settings, and file formats for prepress.
- Perform image tracing, vectorization, and redrawing of low-quality graphics.
- Collaborate with designers and typesetters to integrate text and graphics seamlessly.
- Convert and prepare files for different printing and publishing formats (PDF, EPS, TIFF, etc.).
- Adhere to industry standards for CMYK/RGB color modes, font management, and layout design.
- Ensure files meet printing specifications, including bleeds, margins, and resolution.
- Work with prepress tools like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel DRAW, and Enfocus Pit Stop.
- Troubleshoot and fix prepress issues before final printing or digital distribution.
- Assist in the creation of eBooks, PDFs, and interactive content for online publishing.
Work experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Prepress, Publishing, or Digital Content Production.
- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Enfocus PitStop is a must.
- Experience in Adobe Indesign is mandatory
- Experience in magazine, book, journal, or newspaper publishing.
- Understanding of eBook creation, EPUB, and digital media.
- Knowledge of preflight tools and automation in prepress workflows.
Educational Qualification
Any Bachelors degree; an added advantage if a degree is in Publishing, Graphic Design, Printing Technology, or a related field.
