Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Design & Development:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for telecom equipment, focusing on sheet metal, Plastic and die-cast parts.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for cost-effective production.
- Prototyping & Testing:
- Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts, with a focus on sheet metal and die-cast components.
- Perform mechanical testing and analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Address any design issues that arise during the testing phase and implement necessary modifications.
- Manufacturing Support:
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
- Provide technical support during tooling development and production ramp-up, particularly for sheet metal stamping and die casting processes.
- Review and approve tooling designs, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to ensure that mechanical designs integrate seamlessly with other components.
- Communicate design concepts, progress, and challenges effectively to stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and technical reports.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, and process optimizations, particularly in the areas of sheet metal and die casting.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in mechanical design and telecom equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on telecom equipment.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, Plastic, die casting, and related manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for creating detailed models and drawings.
- Experience with tolerance analysis, material selection, and cost optimization.
