Job Description
1. To carry out accurate triage process.
2. To involve in clinical care of the patients in the resuscitation zones of the ED by upholding the standard of care.
a) Triage
b) History collection and Initial assessment
c) Physical and systemic examination
d) Oxygen administration
e) OPA/NPA insertion
f) Oral/ET suctioning
g) Insertion of supraglottic airway devices
h) Assisting in advanced airway procedures
i) Handling and troubleshooting mechanical ventilation
j) Insertion of Naso-gastric tube
k) Decontamination techniques in poisoning and antidote therapy
l) Assisting ICD insertion
m) Insertion of peripheral venous access
n) Assisting for IO access
o) Assisting central venous catheter insertion
p) Radial arterial blood sample collection and interpretation
q) Venous sample collection
r) Blood and urine sample collection for culture
s) Emergency drug administration
t) Blood transfusion
u) Initiation and maintenance of drug infusions
v) Synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation
w) Trans-cutaneous pacing
x) Advanced cardiac life support and post Cardiac arrest care.
y) Carrying out 12 lead ECG and interpretation
z) Assisting in splinting and casts
aa) Wound cleaning and dressing
bb) Maintaining patient hygiene
cc) Bleeding arrest by direct compression
dd) Log roll and spine immobilization
ee) Insertion of urinary catheterization
ff) POCT and its interpretation
gg) Documentation
3. To lead and accompany intra-hospital patient transfers
4. To accompany patients during inter-hospital patient transfers
5. To maintain document pertaining to the emergency department in an appropriate manner
6. To ensure the equipment and instruments are intact and the inventory is maintained.
7. To ensure that the clinical care/pathways are followed as per the standards
8. To facilitate and coordinate the departments clinical audits.
9. To ensure the KPIs involved in the emergency department and ambulance services are met and the care is delivered as per the quality standards.
10. To train newly joined emergency department staff in BLS/ACLS
11. As a team, to train doctors and nurses in BLS & ACLS and to train support services staff and clinical staff in BLS.
12. To ensure all medical personnel follow strict infection control practices.
