Job Description
Job Summary:
The Powder Coating Plant Head will be responsible for managing and overseeing all operations within the paint shop facility. This includes ensuring quality control, managing resources, achieving production targets, and maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with industry certifications such as AS (Aerospace Standard) and NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program). The role demands expertise in the Black Oxide Process, Spray paint and the individual must be skilled in the application of coatings and paint systems in the aerospace sectors.
Role & responsibilities
- Manage plant resources, including staff, equipment, and materials, to optimize production processes.
- Oversee daily operations in the paint shop, ensuring efficiency and timely completion of production schedules.
- Ensure the continuous operation of paint systems and related machinery.
- Ensure adherence to AS and NADCAP certification standards throughout the painting process.
- Lead efforts to achieve and maintain certification renewals and audits for AS and NADCAP.
- Stay updated on relevant industry standards and ensure the plants compliance with these regulations.
- Oversee the Black Oxide coating process, ensuring the correct application, quality, and safety standards are adhered to.
- Continuously monitor and improve the Black Oxide process to ensure the best results while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
- Train and mentor plant staff on the correct application of the Black Oxide process.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines in all paint shop operations.
- Implement and monitor waste management systems to ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials used in the coating processes.
- Analyze current processes and equipment to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation. Participate in R&D efforts to support product development, particularly in aerospace coatings.
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers regarding paint shop operations, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications are understood and implemented correctly.
- Provide technical support and solutions to customers related to the painting and coating processes.
Preferred candidate profile
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.
- Certifications:
- AS Certification (Aerospace Standard).
- NADCAP Certification in the painting/coating process.
- Any relevant certification in Black Oxide processes is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a paint shop, coating, or surface treatment environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing a certified paint shop with NADCAP and AS certification.
- Expertise in Black Oxide processes, preferably in the aerospace sectors.
- Skills:
- Deep knowledge of paint and coating systems, including liquid coatings, powder coatings, and electroplating.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS9100.
- Strong understanding of NADCAP audits, certification processes, and compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
