Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- collect, process, and file patient medical records systematically.
- Ensure timely and accurate retrieval of patient records upon request.
- Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in the coding of diagnoses and procedures for insurance and billing.
- Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support doctors, nurses, and administrative staff with record access.
- Manage medical record requests from external parties (e.g., insurance companies).
- Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and local laws.
- Prepare and submit medical record statistics and reports.
- Participate in quality audits and documentation improvement initiatives.
- Handle record archiving and disposal as per hospital retention policies.
