Job Title: Mathematical Optimization & Numerical Simulation Engineer Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled individual with a strong mathematical background to enhance the accuracy of optically tracked instruments for image-guided surgery. The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree with at least 3 years of experience, with a Ph.D. being a plus. This role involves extending and improving an existing computational module while also tackling classical and modern computer vision challenges. Key Responsibilities: Improve the existing module by implementing nonlinear optimization techniques to reduce the search space of possible solutions. Optimize the camera calibration procedure, accounting for the nonlinear nature of camera parameters to improve accuracy. Model errors at both subsystem and system levels, using uncertainty quantification techniques to assess their impact on overall performance. Provide a mathematically robust approach to solve other classical and modern computer vision problem statements. Required Qualifications & Experience: Masters degree (minimum) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Ph.D. is a plus. At least 3 years of experience in mathematical optimization, uncertainty quantification, and computer vision. Strong mathematical foundation in optimization, numerical methods, Linear Algebra, Calculus and probability theory. Programming experience in Python, C++, R or MATLAB for algorithm development and testing. Familiarity with computational geometry is a plus.
