Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with 6+ years of strong experience in Hadoop Administration, Starburst Presto/Trino, and Data Lakehouse architectures. You will work in a hybrid setup based out of Bangalore, collaborating closely with stakeholders, including a key team based in Hong Kong hence, excellent communication skills are a must. You will be responsible for maintaining large-scale distributed data systems, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery (DR) readiness, and building modern data lakehouses that drive business intelligence and AI initiatives. Key Responsibilities Administer and optimize Hadoop Clusters ensuring performance, security, availability, and scalability. Manage, configure, and support Starburst Presto/Trino environments for enterprise-level analytics. Design and implement Data Lakehouse solutions using best practices in data ingestion, storage, and query optimization. Collaborate closely with the Hong Kong-based data team, translating requirements into scalable technical solutions. Implement and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) plans and participate in DR drills to ensure business continuity for critical data systems. Monitor cluster performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system configurations. Build and manage pipelines for structured and unstructured data across hybrid cloud environments. Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and data governance protocols. Document best practices, operational runbooks, and architectural decisions. Train and mentor junior engineers and provide L3 support for complex issues. Required Skills and Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on experience in Hadoop Administration (HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase, Oozie, etc.). Proficient with Starburst Presto/Trino query engines, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting. Strong expertise in designing and building Data Lakehouse architectures using cloud or hybrid setups. Deep understanding of distributed systems, data storage formats (Parquet, ORC, Avro), and query optimization techniques. Experience implementing and managing Disaster Recovery (DR) frameworks for critical data environments. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in relation to data infrastructure management is a plus. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially for cross-regional collaboration with Hong Kong teams. Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment. Good to Have Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and modern orchestration frameworks for big data services. Familiarity with Lakehouse tools like Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi. Exposure to Data Governance and Metadata Management best practices. Understanding of DataOps principles and CI/CD for data pipelines.
