Job Description
Role & responsibilities :
- Reviewing customer specifications with engineering and marketing during project review to verify all testing requirements necessary for the transformer.
- Providing an accurate forecast of the time required for testing of transformer to the master scheduler.
- Preparing a test schedule for customer submission.
- Developing and maintaining internal test requirements that meet IEEE and IS standards.
- Ensuring the latest requirements for IEEE test code C57.12.90 are current.
- Analysing equipment and methods used in testing and providing the business case for upgrades to equipment.
- Using available test procedures and data to set up tests and assist in the evaluation of the performance of each transformer unit.
- Execute power transformer tests; composition of test circuit as per check sheet, complete low voltage testing, temperature rise test, and applied voltage test.
- Change test circuits as required to configure the power transformer and test equipment for appropriate tests.
- Operate test equipment: complete tests as per procedure and training; low voltage equipment, loss measuring equipment, impulse measuring equipment, PD measurement system, etc.
- Perform repairs on equipment as required. Fabricate, install, and test out equipment related to the testing operations.
- Keep test equipment, test areas, and all related areas clean and in an orderly fashion.
- Perform daily maintenance review on test equipment to ensure optimal performance
Preferred candidate profile
- A good technical understanding of Electrical Power Equipment (Transformer)
- Good verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to effectively respond to and interact with staff at all levels of the organization
- Ability to read electrical schematic blueprints as necessary, and project scheduling.
- Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly
- Familiar with all current health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Write detailed reports on quality issues
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Understand and support the quality control and quality assurance system
- Participate in complex issue investigations and investigation activities
- Educational Qualification: BE-EEE and ME in High Voltage
- Meet all other requirements as assigned
