Job Description

Position Title * Design Engineer
Reports To * Assistant Manager
Department * Design
Educational Qualification * BE in Mechanical Engineering
Additional Qualification 1 year Apprenticeship training in Manufacturing industry
Position Level*

Experience * 2 to 4 years
Skill * In-depth knowledge of the tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor & any 3D CAD tool.
Training on GD&T, 3D Modeling etc
Basic knowledge of Japanese language is added advantage.
Ability and Knowledge * Well-organized and focused, with solid analytical and problem solving ability.
Knowledge on High Voltage Rotating Electrical Machines & its manufacturing processes
Ability to work cross-functionally and with all levels of organization also with our principals in Japan.

(A) Give a description of the Function in which the position resides

  • Mechanical Design of High Voltage Motors based upon Customer requirements. The India Design team is responsilble for customisation of Product based upon Customer requirments/specification in approval of Japan Principals. The Deisgn team will be interacting with Sales , Project , Manufacturing , QA and Parent company design teams at varios stages during Project execution. Creation of Customer documents , Detail Engineering , Bill of Materials & change management are key areas of Design functions.

Essential Responsibilities :

Execution of the project by ensuring timely release of the all the Customer & Manufacturing drawings/documents adhering to design guidelines & procedures.
Initiate improvement activities within the group in cooperation with other stakeholders
Root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive action
Support periodic Design reviews & completion of Bill of materials within given schedule.
Ensure complete Bill of Material definition: standard and project specific relative to assigned product range.
Understand & Implement various standards relevant to design of motor as per NEMA/API/IEC standards
Interaction with sales team for capturing customer requirements.
Customisation of product based on Customer requirements.
Should own and execute the projects to meet the customer's time line and quality requirements.
Interaction with vendors in understanding the manufacturing feasibility of the components & incorporating the same in the drawings.
Interaction with shop personnel to understand the manufacturing as well assembly feasibility & adopting the same in the product design.
Preparing bill of packing list.
Visit Customer / Supplier place for project requirements.
