Job Description
- Learn and apply coding principles, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Support the review of patient records to ensure completeness and coding compliance.
- Collaborate with coding team to understand coding standards and documentation requirements.
- Participate in regular training sessions to build proficiency in medical coding concepts, regulations, and software tools.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and audits, as required.
- Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, laws, and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with the apprenticeship program.
- Foundational knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems such as ICD-10-CM and CPT is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems is an advantage.
- Holding a coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCA, CCS).
- Science graduates preferred.
- Structured training and development under experienced coders.
- Exposure to real-world coding workflows and compliance standards.
- Opportunity for full-time placement upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, subject to performance and organizational requirements.
