Job description:

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow ITOM Developer with a strong background in Service Mapping to join Clients IT Operations Management (ITOM) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of ITOM solutions within the ServiceNow platform, with a particular focus on Service Mapping and Discovery. You will play a key role in driving the automation and optimization of IT operations by ensuring accurate mapping of business services and their dependencies on infrastructure components.

As a ServiceNow ITOM Developer, you will work closely with IT teams to deploy and enhance Service Mapping functionality, improve incident and change management processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency of IT operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Mapping Implementation: Design, develop, and implement Service Mapping solutions within ServiceNow, ensuring the accurate mapping of business services, application dependencies, and infrastructure components.
  • Discovery Integration: Integrate ServiceNow Discovery with Service Mapping to ensure up-to-date and accurate discovery of IT infrastructure and application services.
  • CMDB Management: Collaborate with IT asset and configuration management teams to maintain and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring consistency and reliability of service mappings and CIs (Configuration Items).
  • Custom Scripting & Development: Develop custom scripts and configurations to tailor Service Mapping features, including Orchestration, Business Rules, Flow Designer, and Script Includes.
  • Dependency Mapping: Create and maintain service maps that define and visualize relationships between business services and their underlying infrastructure, applications, and databases.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Support troubleshooting efforts by leveraging accurate service maps and CMDB data to quickly identify service disruptions and perform root cause analysis.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize Service Mapping processes, ensuring high-performance scanning, discovery, and service map generation, especially in large-scale environments.
  • Automation & Workflow: Implement automated workflows to align with ITOM processes like Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management based on the information gathered by Service Mapping.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create detailed technical documentation for Service Mapping processes, architecture, and integrations. Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Infrastructure, Security, Application Support, DevOps) to ensure service maps meet the needs of both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Service Mapping and overall ITOM processes, keeping up with the latest developments in the ServiceNow platform and best practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow development, with at least 3+ years focused on Service Mapping, Discovery, and ITOM implementations.
  • ServiceNow ITOM Expertise: Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITOM modules such as Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, and Cloud Management.
  • Service Mapping Knowledge: Deep understanding of Service Mapping concepts, including techniques for mapping business services, application dependencies, and infrastructure components (e.g., servers, databases, network devices).
  • Discovery & CMDB Integration: Experience with ServiceNow Discovery tool and CMDB architecture, as well as experience integrating Service Mapping with the CMDB and ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Scripting Skills: Proficiency in JavaScript, JSON, and REST/SOAP APIs for custom development, data manipulation, and integration tasks.
  • Automation Tools: Familiarity with ServiceNow Flow Designer, Orchestration, Business Rules, and Script Includes for automating workflows based on service maps and discovery data.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues related to service mappings, data accuracy, and discovery performance.
  • UI/UX Development: Experience with ServiceNow Service Portal and Employee Service Center for presenting service maps and related ITOM data to users.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITOM or Service Mapping is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL processes, particularly in the areas of Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Configuration Management.
  • Cloud Platform Integration: Experience integrating ServiceNow ITOM with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and virtualized environments.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex ITOM issues related to Service Mapping, Discovery, and CMDB integration.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile development environment and participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Other Integrations: Experience with third-party integrations (e.g., monitoring tools, event management, security systems) into the ServiceNow platform.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
