Job Description
Job Summary / Overview
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Enterprise Customers terrestrial networks. You will work closely with network engineers to ensure the smooth operation of network infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support. This role requires a solid foundation in networking concepts, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and manage routing and switching of Enterprise Customers terrestrial networks.
- Ensure the secure transmission of network traffic through network nodes.
- Work on different vendor like Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Velocloud, Cradlepoint products to build and manage Customer networks.
- Enable new features in networking devices and implement network systems improvements to enhance network performance and reliability.
- Configure and support Enterprise Customers' routers and switches with networking protocols to ensure seamless communication among network devices.
- Work on Windows and Linux servers to troubleshoot network issues and to analyse network performance.
- Perform firmware upgrades on networking devices for bug fixes and enhancements.
- Use Python Programming Language for config management in cloudify orchestration system and use Python to automate processes.
- Collaborate with senior network engineers to support network-related projects, such as network expansions, upgrades, or migrations. Participate in the planning, testing, and implementation of network changes.
- Adhere with change management process and will provide daily and weekly reports to leads/managers.
- Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience with Network and familiarity with a broad range of collaboration technologies
- Understanding of networking concepts, such as IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, and protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP,
- Understanding of protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP for routing,
- Understanding of protocols such as STP, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) for switching
- Knowledge with network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points is essential.
- Understanding of network security principles, including access control, VPNs, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and secure remote access methods
- Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, and NetFlow.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve network issues.
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are a plus.
