Job Description We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Search Query Understanding team. As a leader within the Search Team, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated algorithms and systems that are at the heart of search relevance. You will leverage your expertise in deploying cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and state-of-the-art query understanding techniques at internet scale. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, UX/UI design, and backend engineering, to deliver impactful solutions that redefine search quality and user experience. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of engineers in the Query Understanding team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Define and execute strategies to enhance the accuracy, speed, and personalization of search results through advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques. Drive initiatives to enhance search relevance by integrating search technologies with machine learning models and natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Collaborate with product management to understand user needs and business requirements, translating them into technical solutions. Implement rigorous experimentation frameworks to evaluate and iterate on search algorithms, leveraging data-driven insights to make informed decisions. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in search and information retrieval to drive continuous innovation within Flipkart. Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven experience in leading and managing teams of engineers focused on search relevance and information retrieval in a large-scale consumer-facing environment. Strong background in developing and implementing complex algorithms for search indexing, ranking, and relevance. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala. Experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene. Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and their application to search relevance and personalization. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and influence stakeholders.
