Key Requirements:

Qualification B.Sc./ Diploma/ B.E. + ADIS / PDIS (Industrial safety) should be done from State Board Technical Education approved Institute and passed out from the year 2010 or before 2010)

Experience: 12+ years of experience in Safety management in Construction projects; and should have safety management experience in High-rise Residential/Commercial Building experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Safety Manager - Site

Location: Mumbai

Reporting to: Project Head / Head Safety

Years of Experience: 12+ years of experience in safety

Qualification:

a) B.Sc. / Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech.

And

b) Advance Diploma in Industrial safety (ADIS) / Post Diploma in Industrial Safety (PDIS) done from a State Board Technical Education approved Institute

Nature of Experience:

Should have 12+ years of experience in Safety management; mostly in Construction Projects; and must have worked in Buildings Construction projects, especially High-rise Residential/ Commercial projects.


Role: Maintain safe working environment at project site; statutory compliance; and creating safety awareness


Major Responsibilities:

A. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Deliverable) :

1. Maintain a safe working environment at site
2. Ensure compliance with statutory provisions and necessary documentation
3. Continually raise the awareness level on basic safety aspects among engineers, contractors and workers


B. KEY ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED

Key Responsibility 1: Maintain a safe working environment at site.Key Activities:
  • Preparing EHS (Environment Health and Safety) plan for the project as per the contract requirement.
  • To obtain approval from Corporate Safety dept. and subsequently from client as required.
  • Ensure adequate and timely procurement and maintenance of personal protective equipment as per standards.
  • Daily site inspection in order to observe physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and reporting to project manager and concerned staff.
  • Identify any abnormalities / deviations in housekeeping, spills and EHS violations and report to project manager.
  • To render advice on measures to be adopted for removing unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.
  • Evaluate, approve and monitor different type of permits like work at height, safe entry permit, hot work, HT / LT shut down etc.
  • Organize and conduct safety committee meetings to evaluate effective implementation of EHS plan.
  • Obtaining safety declaration forms from the sub agencies as per corporate safety policy.

Key Responsibility 2: Ensure compliance with statutory provisions and necessary documentation.
Key Activities:
  • Attend to internal and external audits.
  • Follow up for effective implementation of recommendations and observations / remarks by the auditors.
  • Generate the records for closure of NCs raised in the audit.
  • Accident investigation to determine root cause
  • Document the case studies of various types of accident at site
  • Prepare analysis of accident data for benchmarking purpose
  • Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations.


Key Responsibility 3: Continually raise the awareness level on basic safety aspects among project engineers, contractors and workers.
Key Activities:
  • Provide training, coaching and facilitating for site level personnel to enhance their competency and capabilities of achieving safety targets and goals.
  • Display safety posters at site to generate awareness.
  • Promote safety suggestion scheme to motivate employees for coming up with new ideas on safety and cost reduction
  • Organize safety campaigns, competitions and other activities to develop and maintain interest of workers to establish and maintain safe work environment.
  • Organize toolbox meetings, induction programmes with the workers as required.
  • To advise project manager on EHS related matters including hygiene of Labour Colony and site.
  • To carryout mock drills and/or other checks for preparedness during emergency.
  • Impart necessary training to improve preparedness level.
  • Identify scope for savings on personal protective equipment without compromise on safety.
