Job Description
- Lead a team of vibrant data engineers to ensure project deliverables by setting the team vision and determining high level design choices.
- A strong product mindset along with experience in delivering large complex projects collaborating with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders that are technology, operations or business focused.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance through robust validation, monitoring, and logging mechanisms.
- Mentor engineers and help them establish career development plans.
- Incubate new ideas and shape the engineering roadmap for the team.
- Support Expedia Group s product and business teams specific data needs on a global scale
- Close partnership with internal partners from engineering, product, and business
- Promote good development methodologies via code reviews, great software design, brown bags, or tech talks.
- 7+ years of experience managing teams of 5-10 engineers.
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong track record of building scalable data platform and products on AWS.
- Proficiency in Java, Spark, and Scala.
- Professional experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Professional experience with database systems, both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and work with product and business partners to collect non-technical requirements to design and build scalable experience solutions.
- Ability to guide and grow an excellent engineering team in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Experience with real-time data processing and building streaming applications are a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with ML model implementations are a plus.
