Job Description

The Proposal Manager is responsible for preparation and management of deliverables within the Proposal and Contract Group. This position provides both technical support and project management to ensure proposals and contracts are accurate and successful. A team player with strong industry experience works closely with the sales teams, Portfolio Leads (PFLs), and Strategic Matter Experts (SMEs) to meet strategic and sales goals as well as supports the public presence of Cytel by interactions with clients as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Education: Bachelor s degree in business management, clinical sciences, statistics, or equivalent.
Minimum Work Requirements:
  • A minimum 3+ years prior experience in a proposal/budgeting group at a Contract Research Organization (CRO) or within a pharma, academic, biotech organization in clinical research (functional or team leadership).
  • Experience in CRO contracting and surveillance.
  • Experience in proposal generation (budgeting and proposal writing).
Skills:
  • Strong understanding of clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the customer decision-making processes, marketplace requirements and the competitive environment, with the ability to position and differentiate products for maximum market penetration in the clinical trial space.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to services field sales and manage the proposal process in order to win new business opportunities.
  • Analyze client needs expressed in requests for proposals (RFPs) and match them with Cytel capabilities and offerings.
  • Organize internal team meetings to collaborate with the field sales team, PFLs, and SMEs to strategize, prepare, and execute account and opportunity plans.
  • Coordinate the contracting process, including work order preparation, payment schedules, and amendments to existing work orders etc., in collaboration with Heads of BUs/Project Managers/Project Functional Leads (operational support team), and ensure that the appropriate teams are present at meetings on both the buyer and seller side.
  • Prepare proposals/work orders/amendments using in-house tools for review and approval by the operational support team and appropriate Cytel manager.
  • Liaise with appropriate third-party (EDC, IRS, monitoring etc.) vendors for pricing, terms and proposal/work order/amendment text.
  • Prepare proposal text, including any technical written material supplied by operational support team and third-party vendors.
  • Review and validate proposal/work order/amendment for accurate content, consistent format and compliance.
  • Ensure responses to RFPs are coherent, persuasive, and delivered on time and in line with the request itself, and the appropriate Cytel review & management approval process.
  • Participate in the handover of won opportunities from business to operations, including presence at the internal hand over meeting and, where applicable, at the client kick off meeting (and any follow up activities to amend the budget in collaboration with the operational team)
  • Create, build and manage excellent client and Cytel relationships.
  • Contribute technical information and strategic insights and suggestions to improve processes and quality of deliverables.
  • Interact at all levels of the client team, from clinical project management to executive suite, and remain current on relevant industry and internal company products, services, pricing, markets, plans and developments
