Job Description
Position summary
The purpose of this position is to work within the Engineering Team to design, develop and document Hydraulic assembly and components preferably Hydraulic cylinder design in a timely and accurate manner following standard engineering processes and procedures.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years work experience in Hydraulic cylinder design preferred.
- 1 to 3 years experience using a 3D modelling program required, Solidworks latest version preferred.
- 1+ years experience using a PDM preferably Solidworks PDM Vault.
Key Competencies
- Expertise in designing, modelling, and drafting the Hydraulic cylinders and components.
- Selecting 3D models from online platform and designing the cylinders.
- Should be able to do design calculations independently required for Hydraulic cylinders.
- Should have experience in selecting seals, materials, valves. Should have proven abilities to work as team player.
- Should have knowledge of interfaces with other engineering disciplines in carrying out project work for providing /receiving/ reviewing the deliverables at various stages of project.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English required.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines while producing a quality work product.
- Must be able to manage own workload and commitments.
- Must be able to collaborate with team members both in India and the overseas.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and sense of urgency and Work extended hours as per job requirements.
Essential Functions and responsibilities
- Create schematics, General Assembly drawings, Bill of Materials according to tender documents and technical offer using Solidworks and PDM.
- Create top level layouts & prepares child parts production drawings using Solidworks.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including assembly drawings and parts drawing.
- Make changes to existing designs, develop and maintain database libraries.
- Perform Design Validation thru FEA analysis (solidworks simulation) including thermal.
- Work cross-functionally with overseas Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales to meet the customer expectations.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of standards for engineering practices, materials, drawings, etc.
- Must adhere to company procedures and work in a safe manner.
- Maintain a clean, uncluttered workspace.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Relationships
This position is based in our Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India office and will report directly to our Senior Manager Engineering & Development. The position will work daily with the overseas Engineering Team and will receive work direction from both the manager in Bailey India as well as the Engineering Manager in the overseas. The position will have a significant amount of interaction within the Bailey India office and with members of the overseas Engineering Team. These interactions will include discussions of projects and designs, peer reviews, design checks, peer learning, etc. The exchange of ideas and knowledge is expected to go in both directions. The goal is to treat the organization as one Engineering Team, located in different offices, building on each others strengths.

This position requires the ability to work in an office environment as well as a shop environment. Must be able to operate a telephone, computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, scanner and any other office equipment. Must be able to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time.

This position could be split between an office environment, test shop, and a manufacturing environment. The employee will work around moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Indoor ship temperatures may be affected by outdoor conditions. Noise level is moderate to loud.
We work 5 days per week.
Pay scale as per Industry standards.
