Role Overview
  • An Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the infrastructure that enables an organizations IT systems and services to run smoothly.
  • This includes working with hardware, networking, virtualization, cloud environments, and security systems to ensure the organizations IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and scalable.
  • Infrastructure engineers often work closely with software engineers, IT support teams, and system administrators to optimize performance, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality services to end-users.
 
 
What will you do in this role:
  • Focus on designing, developing and managing the products that enable us to archive, retrieve and manage the data
  • Collaborating with business and IT teams to develop Data Archive solutions for Application retirement, Decommissioning and Live Data Archival.
  • Develop, document and implement changes based on requests for change. Apply change control procedures, tools, techniques and processes to manage and report on change requests.
  • Monitor operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning. Apply system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency.
  • Carry out routine operational procedures, amend and execute specified and existing automation tools/scripts and tasks under supervision to gain a basic understanding of the scripting language/automation tools.
  • Analyse service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability.
  • Apply techniques to control the demand upon a particular resource or service and contribute to capacity modelling and planning.
  • Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor simple programs/scripts. Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
  • Apply tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes. Assist with audits to check the accuracy of the information and undertake any necessary corrective action under direction.
  • Prepare design options for the working environment of methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and people. Select system and software life cycle working practices for software components and micro-services.
  • Create and document detailed designs for simple software applications or components. Identify alternative design options and seek guidance when deviating from established design patterns.
  • Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the project manager.
  • Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.
 
What should you have:
  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with network principles, system administration for Linux/Unix and Windows servers.
  • 5-7 years of experience designing & developing scalable and high-performance archival solutions
  • 7+ Experience with integrating archival products with databases, file systems and cloud storage
  • Experience with Archival product vendors (OpenText Info Archival, SOLIX, Informatica, etc)
  • Experience on Databases like Oracle, SQL, CITUS, Hive, etc & Querying Knowledge.
  • Experience Implementing data cleansing and validation process to ensure data quality in archive
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and management tools (Ansible, GitHub Actions, Terraform or AWS CloudFormation).
  • Experience with designing and deploying AWS Services like Elastic Compute (EC2), Storages (S3, EBS), EMR, Lambda, Cloud Watch, Cloud Formation and RDS.
  • Building data pipelines for efficient data ingestion and retrieval from source systems to archive.
  • Must have experience in end-to-end application archiving for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data from different databases and file sources
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Regularly review cloud infrastructure costs and optimize spend.
  • Experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ITIL, Remedy/ServiceNow, CMDB, and Change Control.
  • Cloud-native, ideally AWS certified.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Product and customer-centric approach.
