Job Description
The Data Platform Services Engineer - Senior will be responsible for collaborating with Cloud Solution Architects, Technical Data Architects as well as Scrum Teams in implementing complex end-to-end Enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure platform. The Data Platform Services Engineer will be responsible for maintaining bi-weekly release schedule cadence to coincide with an Agile release train. Data Platform Service Engineers are versed in the differences between IaaS, PaaS, FaaS, CaaS, and SaaS, and a deep understanding of data migration and data deployment strategies. They have experience working with these different deployment topologies, understand the cost implications of each, and can advise on the most performant and cost-effective solution.
Primary Job Functions
Build and execute portable scripts or data pipelines for data migration and reloading during software development
Prepare environments for automated deployments
Create automated tests to ensure all data access controls are working, contribute to the administration of data access roles
Write scripts to create infrastructure, apply configurations and generate initial datasets
Coordinate cloud infrastructure and database administration to ensure the data delivery team can work efficiently
Harden high availability and recovery procedures
Tuning of data infrastructure to resolve bottlenecks, optimize cloud costs
Document infrastructure and data flows
Required Qualifications
Expertise in Azure container orchestration, including Azure Kubernetes Services, data platform tools, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Hubs, and data stores, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Server, Azure PostgreSQL
Exposure to multi-domain, augmented MDM platforms is a plus
Deep knowledge of software development lifecycle and data engineering practices
Experience in data integration, data warehouse, big-data-related initiatives, development and implementation
Knowledge of various architectures, patterns and protocols such as ODBC, JDBC, unified data management architecture (UDM), event-driven architecture, real-time data flows, nonrelational repositories, data virtualization, cloud enablement, etc.
Demonstrated experience engineering for data quality, flexibility, and supportability
Heightened data security mindset, strong secure software development knowledge
Ability to perform under strong demands in a fast-paced environment
Experience working on an agile team, open to taking on work outside one's own responsibilities to accomplish team goals
Retain and transfer knowledge of systems to Ashley
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience handling security concerns such as Secret handling, lifecycle, and rotation. Understanding of secure communication protocols.
Experience with IAAS utilizing terraform.
5+ years of experience with Microsoft technologies and software platforms such as SQL Server, .NET, Azure Devops Deployment Pipelines, and terraform.
