Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- The Web Accessibility Specialist is responsible for identifying issues through quality assurance testing and suggesting potential solutions for accessibility barriers based on the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, and other accessibility related laws.
- Experience with user experience software development using JavaScript, XML, CSS, and other UI related technologies. Experience with usability, accessibility and demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws, policies, standards, and best practices, including WCAG 2.0. and Section 508.
- Proficient in writing VPATS is seen as a required skill.
- Design, program, test, and debug applications according to accessibility specifications.
- Test and evaluate software tools from accessibility and usability perspectives.
- Understand design principles, guidelines, and relevant policies, including web accessibility standards.
- Functional knowledge of ATAG 2.0 and UAAG 2.0 specifications.
- Primarily focusing on WCAG 2.1, HTML and WAI-ARIA. hands-on experience with Localization and Globalization Testing, fairly good in providing recommendations and remediation of web pages in desktop, tablets and mobile using screen readers as well as providing best practices.
- Proficient with understanding of all types of disabilities like Motor impairments, Low vision, color blindness, hearing impairment, cognitive disabilities and providing respective solutions with the help of assistive technology tools.
- Hands on experience on different type of screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, TalkBack and VoiceOver. Exposure to various bug management tools such as Microsoft TFS, JIRA, HP ALM and BugZilla.
- Experience in websites and applications under various environments such as Windows, Mac, Android, ChromeOS and iOS.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies, writing project plans and maintaining sprint plans as per the project progress.
- Willing to learn and handle multiple priorities and manage within deadlines, participate in the developer meetings, and provide insights on the bugs being raised and how to overall improve the Accessibility of the product.

Desired Candidate Profile
- Certified Accessibility Trusted Tester, Section 508 along with CPACC from IAAP is preferable. Experience in handling the team of accessibility specialist and developers is mandatory.
- Lead and collaborates with product management, design, development teams, consultants to define accessibility requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Lead projects from start to finish with respect to technical and project management.
- Define the scope of device functionalities covered by legal requirements, defines user impact and provides input on level of effort to meet requirements.
- Be able to allocate resources to projects with a clear understanding of their skills so that the project execution is efficient with respect to team and client expectations.
- Contribute to the development and integration of accessibility design, development and testing methodologies. Advise, train, and provide specific guidelines regarding front end web accessibility for in-house team and external team.
- Create and update baseline guidelines for front end accessibility of all software products, including web apps and mobile apps.
