Job Title: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Neo ICU) Department: Nursing Clinical Job Summary: The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Neo ICU) is responsible for the care of newborns with severe or complex medical conditions. This includes premature infants, infants with congenital anomalies, respiratory distress, infections, and other life-threatening conditions. The Neo ICU staff will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide advanced monitoring, diagnostic, and therapeutic care. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide continuous monitoring and care for neonates requiring intensive support, including those with respiratory distress, prematurity, infections, and congenital conditions. Administer medications, including intravenous (IV) drugs and nutritional support (parenteral or enteral). Ensure accurate documentation of patient progress, medical histories, and treatments. Assist in resuscitation efforts and emergency procedures. Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and other clinical indicators of neonate health. Collaborative Care: Work alongside neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals in the development of care plans. Participate in daily rounds to assess patient status and adjust treatment plans. Offer emotional and educational support to parents and family members. Equipment & Technology: Operate neonatal life support equipment, including ventilators, incubators, and cardiac monitors. Monitor and maintain specialized neonatal care equipment in optimal working condition. Procedural Skills: Assist with or perform medical procedures such as intubation, blood draws, lumbar punctures, and central line insertions as needed. Provide phototherapy for jaundiced infants or other relevant treatments. Compliance & Standards: Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure safety standards are followed in the ICU. Stay current with neonatal care practices and advancements in medical technology and treatments.
