The WARD Nurse is responsible for providing specialized, high-level care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves monitoring patients vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal care. The WARD Nurse must demonstrate advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Patient Care: o Monitor and assess patients vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature. o Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed. o Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures. o Provide life support and emergency care as needed. 2. Documentation: o Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including observations, treatments, and responses. o Document and report changes in patients conditions to physicians and other healthcare professionals. 3. Collaboration: o Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans. o Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care decisions. o Communicate effectively with patients families to provide updates and education about their loved ones condition and treatment. 4. Patient and Family Support: o Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during critical times. o Educate families about post-WARD care and the patients condition. 5. Emergency Response: o Respond promptly to emergencies, including cardiac arrests and rapid deteriorations in patient conditions. o Utilize advanced life support techniques and equipment as needed. 6. Infection Control and Safety: o Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a sterile environment and prevent healthcare-associated infections. o Adhere to safety procedures and report any hazards or unsafe conditions. 7. Professional Development: o Stay current with advancements in critical care nursing through continuing education and training. o Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high standards of care. Skills: o Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. o Computer knowledge is compulsory. o Ability to operate and interpret complex medical equipment. o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
