Job Description
- 1. Patient Care Provide basic care to patients, including monitoring vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, respiration rate). Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, and other daily care activities. Administer prescribed medications and injections as directed by a doctor. Ensure the comfort of patients by addressing their physical and emotional needs. 2. Maternal and Child Health Assist in childbirth, including supporting the midwife or doctor during delivery. Provide prenatal and postnatal care to mothers and newborns. Educate mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and post-delivery recovery. 3. Health Education and Promotion Educate patients and families about health practices, preventive measures, and how to manage illnesses. Provide information on family planning, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition. 4. Monitoring and Record-Keeping Maintain accurate patient records, including health history, treatments, and progress. Document any changes in a patient's condition and inform the doctor or senior nurse accordingly. 5. Infection Control Ensure that medical equipment is properly sterilized and that infection control protocols are followed. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and healthcare workers. 6. Assist in Medical Procedures Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals in medical procedures such as minor surgeries, dressings, and injections. Prepare and administer prescribed treatments under the supervision of a senior healthcare professional. 7. Emergency Care Provide basic first aid and emergency care to patients in case of accidents, injuries, or medical emergencies. Stabilize patients until they can be transferred to a higher-level facility, if necessary. 8. Administrative Support Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Ensure smooth communication between medical staff and patients. Assist in maintaining the medical supplies inventory, ensuring essential items are stocked. 9. Team Collaboration Work closely with doctors, senior nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care. Attend team meetings and contribute to patient care planning and discussions. 10. Emotional Support Offer emotional support to patients and families, especially in difficult situations like serious illnesses, childbirth, or end-of-life care. 11. Personal Hygiene and Comfort Monitor the cleanliness and comfort of patients, including ensuring that their living spaces in the hospital or clinic are kept tidy.
