The Solutions Engineering group has an array of solutions that have a wide range of implementation and architecture differences but includes same but different technology choices. The primary objective of the Platform Services group is to provide shared commodity services and bootstrap configuration that can alleviate the engineering teams from reinventing the wheel.
Position summary
We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Engineer to join our Developer Portal Backstage Team. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our developer portal, ensuring smooth integration and functionality for our users. You will be responsible for both frontend and backend development tasks, collaborating with a team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions
Duties & accountabilities
This position provides technical design and development within the Market Intelligence Technology division responsible for the end-to-end design and delivery of S&P Globals Dev Hub, a central hub or portal that provides developers, engineers, and other stakeholders with a unified interface to access and interact with the different tools and services used in the development process. The role is responsible for working with a global team of Engineers in support of this mission, with additional support from the wider technology organization. The ideal applicant will have an organized and creative mind-set that drives him or her to find innovative solutions to common problems with the right toolset. They will be passionate about technology and have a self-driven interest to keep up with the latest technology developments and relate them to the current product landscape.
Business competencies
Required:
- React: Strong proficiency in React for building dynamic and responsive user interfaces.
- Node.js: Extensive experience in building scalable server-side applications using Node.js.
- TypeScript: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with TypeScript for type-safe development.
- Experience with integrating and writing RESTful APIs: Proficiency in integrating APIs and developing RESTful services.
- Git: Proficient in using Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Express.js: Strong understanding and practical experience with Express.js for building web applications.
- Postgres: Familiarity with PostgreSQL for database management.
- Familiarity with Docker containers & containerizing applications: Experience working with Docker containers for application deployment.
- Yarn, npm, lerna: Familiarity with package managers like Yarn and npm, and the Lerna tool for managing JavaScript projects.
- Experience of working in an Agile Development environment and maintaining high standards through code reviews.
- Able to work with product and UX teams to translate UI designs into working solutions.
Desirable:
- AWS SDK: Familiarity with the AWS SDK for integrating AWS services into applications.
- Knex.js: Knowledge of Knex.js for building SQL query builders and ORM.
- Postgres: Experience with PostgreSQL for database management.
- SonarQube + Jest/React-testing-library: Experience with SonarQube for code quality analysis and Jest/React-testing-library for unit testing.
- API Gateways: Understanding of API gateways for managing and securing APIs.
- OAuth: Knowledge of OAuth for authentication and authorization protocols.
- Familiarity with popular VCS (ADO, GitLab, etc.) in terms of integrations: Understanding of Version Control Systems like Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitLab for code management and integration purposes.
- Familiarity with Docker containers & containerizing applications: Experience working with Docker containers for application deployment.
- Experience in FOSS contributions: Previous experience with Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) contributions.
- Familiarity with TerraGrunt / Terraform: Knowledge of TerraGrunt or Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Swagger.io / OpenAPI: Familiarity with Swagger.io or OpenAPI for designing and documenting RESTful APIs.
- Backstage.io (Spotify's OSS framework): Understanding of Backstage.io, Spotify's Open-Source Software (OSS) framework, for managing developer portals and services.
