Role Objective We are seeking a skilled UAV Communication and Network Engineer to design, configure, and optimize communication systems for UAVs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the selection and configuration of Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), antennas, and network topologies to enable robust and secure communication between UAVs and ground systems, as well as within swarming UAVs Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities SDR and Antenna Selection: Identify and select suitable Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) and antennas for UAV communication systems based on performance, range, and application requirements. Evaluate communication hardware for multi-frequency bands and protocols (e.g., LoRa, Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G). SDR Configuration and Optimization: Configure SDRs for optimal performance, including modulation schemes, frequency selection, and power settings. Develop and test firmware or software for SDR-based communication systems. Network Topology Design: Design and implement network topologies for UAV-to-ground and UAV-to-UAV communication (e.g., mesh, star, hybrid). Ensure secure and low-latency communication for real-time data transmission. Testing and Validation: Conduct field tests to validate communication systems" performance under varying environmental conditions. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software communication issues. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including system designs, test plans, and reports. Provide input to engineering teams for system integration and support during production. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelors or masters degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 3years of Experience in UAVs, handling the above functions Proven experience with SDRs, antennas, and RF communication systems. Proficiency in configuring SDR platforms such as Doodle Labs, Microhard and Silvus. Strong understanding of network protocols and topologies (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, MANETs). Experience with tools for RF and network analysis (e.g., MATLAB, GNU Radio, Wireshark). Familiarity with UAV communication challenges such as mobility, line-of-sight constraints, and interference. Knowledge of encryption protocols and cybersecurity principles for secure communication. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
