- Overview: The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (Firewall Specialist) plays a vital role in safeguarding the organizations information systems. This position involves designing, managing, and monitoring firewall systems to protect sensitive data and systems from potential cyber threats. With the increasing complexity of network environments, the need for robust cybersecurity measures has never been more critical. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop security strategies, implement preventive measures, and respond to incidents effectively. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and maintaining the integrity and availability of the organization's digital assets. As an expert in firewall technologies, the engineer will evaluate and fine-tune security configurations, perform regular audits, and stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats. The success of cybersecurity initiatives greatly relies on this position, making it a cornerstone in the architecture of a resilient and secure IT environment. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and monitor firewall configurations to secure networks against cyber threats. Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies. Develop and enforce security policies and procedures related to firewall and network security. Respond to and investigate security incidents related to firewalls and network breaches. Collaborate with IT and network engineers to integrate security measures into infrastructure design. Analyze network traffic to identify anomalies or unauthorized access attempts. Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to evaluate firewall effectiveness. Stay updated on emerging threats and security technologies relevant to firewall management. Prepare and maintain documentation related to firewall configurations and security policies. Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff on firewall best practices. Monitor compliance with industry regulations and internal security standards. Evaluate and recommend new firewall products and technologies based on organizational needs. Assist in the development of incident response plans related to firewall breaches. Engage in regular audits of firewall performance and security posture. Participate in cross-departmental projects to enhance overall cybersecurity posture. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, specifically focused on firewall technologies. Proven expertise in firewall management tools and techniques. Strong understanding of network protocols and information security principles. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP preferred. Experience with firewall solutions such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco ASA. Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance regulations (e.g., ISO, NIST, PCI-DSS). Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure. Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with incident response and disaster recovery planning. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Solid understanding of encryption methods and security architectures. Hands-on experience in scripting for automation of security tasks is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Continuous learner committed to staying abreast of cybersecurity trends and innovations. Proven track record of enhancing security posture in previous roles.
