About the Role: The role involves development of actuators for humanoid robots. Own the end-to-end process for designing and optimizing actuators that enable precise and efficient motion, closely mimicking human capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Conceptualize, design, and prototype actuators tailored for humanoid robot applications. Develop high-performance electromechanical systems for revolute and prismatic joints, limbs, and hands. Perform rigorous testing to ensure actuators meet performance, reliability, and safety standards. Analyze mechanical and thermal performance data to refine designs for efficiency and longevity. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, control systems, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of actuators into the robots architecture. Coordinate with industrial designers to meet aesthetic and ergonomic requirements. Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to balance performance, cost, and weight considerations. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to prototype and mass-produce actuator components. Create detailed engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and technical reports. Good to have: Bachelors/Masters degree or PhD. in Mechanical Engineering. Prior 3+ years of experience in the design and development of motors/actuators, preferably in robotics or automotive industries. Familiarity with motor electromagnetics, strain wave gearbox design, torque cells, encoders and bearing arrangements. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent). Strong understanding of mechanics, dynamics, and material science. Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for stress and thermal analysis. Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing mechanical components. Prior experience in actuator design for robotic arms, quadrupeds or humanoids. Knowledge of control systems and their application in robotic movement.,
