About the Job As an Principal Engineer (ROS) - Robotics, you will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it. You will play a crucial role in designing and developing software systems for our robotic systems. You will lead a team of engineers, influencing the direction of our software control systems and driving innovation to maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving robotics landscape. What Youll Be Doing Technical Leadership Tackle complex challenges at the intersection of hardware and software, providing hands-on technical guidance and innovative solutions. Identify areas for short-term and long-term innovation, collaborating with the hardware engineering team to create and file patents. Work closely with program leadership, AI, ML, and CV software teams, and hardware engineering to drive program development. Team Development Mentor and grow the software engineering team, fostering creativity and discipline in project execution. Manage high-performing teams and develop reports to track progress against key technical milestones and program goals. Robotic OS Design Excellence Develop expert knowledge in humanoid robot control areas, including whole-body control, predictive control, and imitation learning. Build scalable software platforms and operating systems tailored for robotics applications. Stay current with trends, technologies, and best practices in robotics and automation software. Hardware Collaboration Ensure seamless integration of high-level and low-level software with hardware functionalities. Lead optimization efforts for robotic system performance, including motion planning and state estimation. Strategic Planning Set direction for software engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with the companys vision and goals. Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the software engineering team. What We Need To See A minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems or similar Engineering field. Advanced degrees and tier 1 colleges are preferred. 12+ years in software engineering, with a substantial focus (6+ years) on automation, robotics operating systems 4+ years in a leadership or senior management role preferred Demonstrated ability in building and scaling software platforms/OS for robotics hardware Prior hands-on experience across RS 485, RS 232, RS 422, Modbus and various Ethernet protocols on major hardware robotics platforms Production grade work experience in Embedded C, C++, Python Familiarity with Nvidia/Qualcomm Robotics platform is a huge plus Experience with Applied ML is a huge plus Strong understanding of software design principles and SDLC Experience leading various distributed/multi locations team, including external technology partners Email your resume at hidden_email,
