Position Overview: We are seeking a Mechanical Design Product Designer with expertise in designing enclosures and mechanical systems for electronics and IoT devices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs that ensure the seamless integration of electronic components, sensors, and connectivity hardware. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including electrical engineers and product managers, to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions. Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Design & Development:Design enclosures, housings, and mechanical systems for IoT and electronic products using CAD tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD. Prototyping & Testing:Create 3D models, prototypes, and physical mock-ups to validate design concepts, functionality, and manufacturability. Material Selection & DFM (Design for Manufacturing):Select appropriate materials (plastics, metals, composites) considering cost, durability, and environmental factors. Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes, including injection molding, 3D printing, and CNC machining. Thermal & Structural Analysis:Perform thermal and structural analyses to ensure product performance under various conditions, focusing on heat dissipation, vibration, and impact resistance. Collaboration & Integration:Work closely with electronics and software teams to ensure proper fit and function of components within the mechanical design. Compliance & Standards:Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements (IP ratings, EMI shielding, etc.) and industry standards for IoT devices. Documentation & BOM Management:Prepare detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOM) for manufacturing and production teams. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Experience: 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for electronics or IoT products. Experience with enclosure design and thermal management for electronic devices. Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar). Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing). Understanding of thermal and structural analysis tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation). Familiarity with electronics packaging and EMI/EMC considerations. Experience with rapid prototyping and design validation. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and a focus on quality and precision. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing ruggedized or outdoor IoT enclosures.
