We are seeking a skilled Fire Hydrant AutoCAD Designer and Estimate Engineer to design, draft, and estimate fire hydrant systems in compliance with the National Building Code (NBC), NFPA standards, and local regulations. The role combines technical design expertise with cost estimation to ensure safe, efficient, and budget-friendly fire protection solutions. Key Responsibilities 1. Design & Drafting Create detailed fire hydrant system layouts (underground pipelines, valve assemblies, hydrant placements) using AutoCAD. Develop hydraulic calculations to determine water flow rates, pressure requirements, and pipe sizing. Generate as-built drawings, schematics, and 3D models (if applicable) for construction teams. Collaborate with architects, MEP teams, and contractors to integrate designs into broader project plans. 2. Estimation & Cost Analysis Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material take-offs, and cost estimates for fire hydrant systems. Analyze project specifications to optimize material selection and labor costs (value engineering). Source quotes from vendors and evaluate cost-effectiveness of components. 3. Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to NBC guidelines, NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 24, 291), and local fire safety regulations. Review designs for compliance with municipal approval processes and client requirements. 4. Project Management & Coordination Conduct site visits to assess terrain, water supply, and installation feasibility. Resolve design discrepancies during construction and provide technical support. Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and quality benchmarks are met. 5. Documentation & Reporting Maintain records of design revisions, approvals, and compliance certificates. Prepare technical reports and project documentation for stakeholders. Skills & Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related field. Experience: 3+ years in fire protection system design, with expertise in AutoCAD. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD (certification preferred). Knowledge of hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HASS, WaterCAD). Familiarity with BIM software (Revit) is a plus. Regulatory Knowledge: NBC, NFPA, ISO, and local fire codes.
