- Job Title: Production Manager Doc.Ref Suja/HRD /D/02 Department: Manufacturing/Production Issue/Date: 01 / 01.08.2024 Reports To: Operations Manager / General Manager Rev / Date: 03 / 13.12.2021 JOB DISCRIPTION Production Manager Job Purpose: To oversee, plan, and manage all production activities in the compression and injection molding sections. Ensure optimal utilization of resources to achieve production targets, maintain quality standards, and adhere to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:1. Production Planning and Supervision Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery timelines. Allocate resources efficiently, including manpower, machines, and materials. Monitor daily production activities to ensure targets are achieved. 2. Quality Control and Standards Ensure all products meet specified quality standards and resolve quality issues promptly. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to implement continuous improvement measures. 3. Process Optimization Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction. Implement best practices in compression and injection molding techniques. 4. Team Management Supervise and mentor production staff, including operators and technicians. Conduct training sessions to enhance workforce skills and knowledge of molding processes. Evaluate employee performance and address any skill or efficiency gaps. 5. Equipment and Maintenance Oversight Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition. Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive and corrective maintenance. 6. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with molding operations. 7. Reporting and Documentation Prepare regular production reports, including efficiency, downtime, and wastage data. Maintain accurate records of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory levels. Authority: 1. Operational Decisions: Authority to make adjustments to production schedules, staff assignments, and process parameters to meet goals. 2. Staff Management: Power to approve overtime, assign responsibilities, and recommend staff for promotion or disciplinary actions. 3. Material and Equipment: Approve requisitions for raw materials, tools, and spare parts essential for production. Halt production in case of critical equipment failures or quality issues. 4. Process Improvements: Authority to implement new techniques, approve trials of new materials, and suggest equipment upgrades. 5. Safety Enforcement: Enforce safety rules and halt unsafe operations until corrective measures are implemented. Qualifications and Skills: Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum 5-7 years in production management, preferably in compression and injection molding. Technical Skills: Expertise in molding processes and equipment. Proficiency in ERP and production planning software. Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
