Description

As a senior member of the team you ll oversee and support junior engineers in the team. You ll take on initiatives to impact the long-term direction and growth of both the team and our tech stack.

You ll attend briefing calls, prioritisation meetings and feedback sessions to support and feed into the team s various growth initiatives. We collaborate with colleagues from the Growth, Design, Content, SEO and CRO teams to define what engineering work we do on the website, and far backend/martech initiatives we collaborate even wider across the growth team and beyond.

You ll get involved in briefs early in order to give input from an engineering perspective, and once defined you ll work to bring each brief to life in code.

The frontend code you write will take into account a diverse set of requirements across UI and UX design, CRO conversion-rate, accessibility, SEO and site performance. You ll work on building new components and entire new pages. And you ll be involved in launching these live both directly and via a/b test experiments.

Our frontend tech stack We host our website using Cloudflare s programmable CDN. We server-render the site s HTML using JSX components (just JSX, not React) and then sprinkle in lightweight client-side javascript when needed.

You ll join a team who prioritizes Core Web Vitals and writes server-side javascript to reduce the page speed impact of our work whenever possible! You ll work from high-fidelity Figma component designs and build with JSX and Tailwind CSS.

Tag management, analytics tracking, a/b testing, lead capture into our CRM, and beyond - you ll learn our frontend tools in depth in the first 3-6 months, but we expect a senior role to come in with experience in most/all of these areas.

On the backend/martech side the work is varied and challenging. Here are some recent example projects: migrated lead flows into Hubspot CRM, launched a slackbot for high-priority leads to improve Sales Team SLAs, launched Whatsapp and SMS as new marketing channels, integrated a new live-chat provider.

Why do we need this role

We are looking for a Senior Frontend+Backend Growth Engineer. Reporting into the Growth Engineering Lead, you will join the Growth Engineering Team during an exciting time of expansion for the growth team and the marketing website www.builder.ai.

We are looking for a senior growth engineer with professional frontend experience with HTML and CSS who can confidently write JavaScript/TypeScript both on the frontend and backend. We need someone who can take high-fidelity Figma component designs and detailed a/b testing briefs and consistently bring them to life in code (the frontend) and someone who can support a fast-moving international growth team on engineering initiatives to integrate and leverage various APIs and martech technologies (the backend). Beyond the code we need someone who excels at collaborating and enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team on various projects at the same time.

, Requirements
  • Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • You can strike the right balance between writing perfect code and shipping it rapidly and iteratively.
  • You can take direction on what needs to be done, but you're self-directed and complete your work without someone looking over your shoulder.
  • When there is something in between you and your goal, you do what it takes to learn, solve problems, and just make things happen.
  • You excel at communicating and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Frontend technical skills including HTML and intermediate to advanced CSS and JavaScript/TypesScript. Experience with React, web components or other equivalent frontend javascript framework.
  • Some backend skills - evidence in managing martech integrations - crating robust customer lead flows with our backend systems.
  • Tag management, analytics tracking, a/b testing, lead capture into our CRM, and beyond - you ll learn our frontend tools in depth in the first 3-6 months, but we expect a senior role to come in with experience in most/all of these areas.
  • 4+ years' experience as a frontend engineer with backend/growth engineering experience. Experience working on the marketing site of a Tech Start up / Scale up is preferred.
  • University degree or equivalent work experience required.
