Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer - Water System is responsible for designing, analyzing, and maintaining mechanical systems used in water treatment, distribution, and storage. This role ensures that all water systems are efficient, reliable, and meet regulatory standards. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve water systems, optimize processes, and troubleshoot mechanical issues. Key Responsibilities: Design and Analysis: Develop mechanical designs for water treatment plants, water storage tanks, pumping stations, and distribution systems. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new projects or upgrades to existing systems. Utilize engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create designs and simulations for water systems. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. System Optimization: Perform system analysis and calculations to optimize water system performance. Recommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Monitor and evaluate existing mechanical systems, suggesting modifications or replacements when necessary. Project Management: Manage or assist with the planning, execution, and oversight of mechanical engineering projects related to water systems. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other engineers to ensure timely and effective project completion. Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resources. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee the maintenance of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime. Ensure that all mechanical components are maintained to reduce wear and extend system life. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all water systems are in compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory agencies. Conduct inspections to ensure safety and environmental standards are met. Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with civil, electrical, and environmental engineers to integrate mechanical systems into larger water infrastructure projects. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and specifications for internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. Train and mentor junior engineers or technicians in water system mechanics and maintenance. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in water systems, utilities, or environmental engineering. Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain it is preferred. Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, or other engineering design and simulation tools. Knowledge: Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and water treatment processes. Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent project management abilities. Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWWA, OSHA). Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.,
