    Overview The Data Scientist (SAS/SQL) plays a pivotal role in analyzing complex data sets to extract meaningful insights and drive strategic decisions within the organization. This position combines advanced analytical skills with technical expertise in SAS and SQL programming to analyze vast amounts of data, identify trends, and support business initiatives across various functions. The Data Scientist is responsible for transforming data into actionable intelligence by utilizing statistical modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms. Additionally, this role collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver data-driven solutions that enhance operational efficiency and business performance. As a key contributor to the analytics team, the Data Scientist (SAS/SQL) influences decision-making processes and provides critical insights that help the organization remain competitive in the ever-evolving market landscape. Key Responsibilities Collect, preprocess, and analyze structured and unstructured data from various sources. Develop and implement predictive models and algorithms using SAS and SQL. Visualize data through dashboards and reports to facilitate informed decision-making. Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns within data sets to guide strategic initiatives. Use statistical methods for hypothesis testing and validation of findings. Collaborate with stakeholders to determine data needs and define project scope. Perform data quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity of data analyses. Communicate findings and complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Optimize existing processes and data workflows to enhance operational efficiency. Stay updated with data science trends and emerging technologies in analytics. Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and best practices within the analytics team. Assist in training junior analysts and team members on data tools and practices. Participate in cross-functional projects to contribute data insights to organizational strategies. Document methodologies and procedures for future reference and reproducibility. Engage in continuous learning to improve skills and knowledge in data science. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Proven experience in data analysis and statistical modeling, ideally within a business environment. Strong programming skills in SAS and SQL. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their application in real-world scenarios. Experience in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. Solid understanding of statistical techniques and methodologies. Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets and complex databases. Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in analyses. Experience in the industry relevant to the organization's business model. A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement. Knowledge of programming languages such as R or Python is desirable. Familiarity with data governance and ethical data use practices.
