Position Overview: We are seeking a Mid-Level Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team. This role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing our network infrastructure, with a focus on bare-metal servers, VMware, Kubernetes, and network operations. The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and a proactive approach to safeguarding network environments. Key Responsibilities: Bare Metal Server Management: Deploy, configure, and manage bare metal servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Maintain hardware lifecycle processes, including provisioning, patching, and upgrades. Virtualization & Containerization: Manage and maintain VMware environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. Handle Kubernetes clusters, ensuring effective container orchestration and management across different environments. Network Operations: Oversee network infrastructure operations, ensuring secure, stable, and optimized connectivity across all systems. Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively. Implement and maintain network firewalls, VPNs, and other network security measures. Cybersecurity Integration: Work closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure the network infrastructure complies with industry standards and best practices. Implement security measures such as encryption, access control, and intrusion detection systems (IDS) to protect sensitive data. Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, applying necessary patches or mitigations to infrastructure components. Automation and Efficiency: Automate routine tasks, such as server provisioning and network monitoring, to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components into continuous deployment pipelines. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and potential security threats for internal review. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, software engineering, and DevOps, to ensure network infrastructure meets the organizations needs. Provide support for infrastructure-related incidents, outages, or performance issues, ensuring rapid resolution. Required Skills and Qualifications: Experience: 3-6 years of hands-on experience in managing and optimizing network infrastructure, virtualization, and containerization technologies. Technical Proficiency: Bare Metal Servers: Strong experience in provisioning, configuring, and maintaining physical server environments. VMware: In-depth knowledge of VMware for virtualization, including setting up virtual machines, managing storage, and ensuring system security. Kubernetes: Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration, ensuring secure and scalable deployments. Network Operations: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configurations, along with experience monitoring network traffic and performance. Cybersecurity Knowledge: A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including the implementation of secure network configurations and safeguarding infrastructure against emerging threats. Knowledge of encryption protocols, access controls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Automation: Experience automating routine network operations using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies. Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, diagnose root causes, and implement timely and effective solutions. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, stay current with the latest technology trends, and adapt to changing requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform. Certifications in VMware (e.g., VCP) or Kubernetes (e.g., CKAD) are a plus. Any relevant certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) or cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP). Key Competencies: Attention to Detail: Ensure all network configurations and server setups are executed with precision to avoid security vulnerabilities and operational inefficiencies. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work effectively with cybersecurity analysts, DevOps engineers, and other cross-functional teams to create a secure and efficient infrastructure. Adaptability: Be prepared to quickly adapt to new technologies and methodologies to maintain network security and infrastructure efficiency. Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to identify network performance issues and security vulnerabilities, troubleshoot effectively, and implement scalable solutions. Resilience: Capable of handling infrastructure challenges calmly and efficiently, especially during high-pressure incidents or network outages.
