Job Title: Data Collection Specialist (LiDAR Engineer/Field Technician) Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Data Collection Specialist with expertise in LiDAR technology, Python programming, and hands-on field experience. The ideal candidate will collect, process, and analyze geospatial data, ensuring high-quality deliverables for various projects. This role combines technical fieldwork, data handling, and programming, primarily in Python, to facilitate accurate data capture and analysis. Key Responsibilities: - **LiDAR Data Collection**: Operate LiDAR equipment and sensors in the field to collect accurate geospatial data. - **Field Technician Duties**: Set up, test, and maintain equipment (including UAVs, LiDAR scanners, and GPS units) to ensure proper operation for data collection tasks. - **Data Processing & Management**: Post-process raw LiDAR data and integrate it into GIS systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. - **Python Scripting**: Develop and utilize Python scripts to automate data processing tasks, enhance workflows, and perform data quality checks. - **Collaborative Fieldwork**: Work with teams of geospatial engineers, surveyors, and field technicians to collect data from multiple project sites. - **Documentation & Reporting**: Prepare reports and maintain documentation for all data collection activities, ensuring transparency and traceability. - **Quality Assurance**: Monitor the quality and completeness of data collected, troubleshooting any issues with equipment or software in real-time. - **Compliance & Safety**: Adhere to field safety protocols and ensure that all operations comply with industry regulations and project guidelines. Skills & Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Science, Engineering, Surveying, or a related field. Experience: - 2+ years of experience with LiDAR systems, data collection, and processing. - Experience with Python programming for data processing and automation. - Field technician experience, including handling and maintaining technical equipment. - Technical Skills: - Proficient with LiDAR data collection and post-processing software (e.g., LAStools, TerraScan, or similar). - Strong knowledge of Python and geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, Shapely, GeoPandas). - Understanding of GIS systems and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS). - Familiarity with UAV operations and data collection is a plus. Soft Skills: - Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a collaborative team. - Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Certifications(preferred but not required): - LiDAR Technician Certification. - Python Programming Certification. - UAV Pilot Certification (if applicable).
