- Job Description: HVAC Draughtsman Position Overview: The HVAC Draughtsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role requires expertise in understanding the technical requirements of HVAC installations, collaborating with engineers and architects, and ensuring that the drawings comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Design and Drafting: Prepare detailed HVAC system drawings, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and layout plans, using AutoCAD or other drafting software. Work closely with engineers and architects to ensure designs meet building codes, regulations, and client specifications. Produce schematic diagrams, floor plans, sections, and installation details. Coordination: Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure that HVAC systems are properly integrated into the overall building design. Modify and revise drawings based on feedback and changes during the project lifecycle. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all HVAC drawings meet local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance with all relevant standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all drawings, revisions, and project documentation. Prepare technical reports and support project documentation as needed. Project Support: Assist in the estimation of HVAC system costs and material requirements. Provide ongoing support during the construction phase, ensuring that designs are being implemented as per the specifications. Required Skills and Qualifications: Education: A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field. Experience: Proven experience as an HVAC Draughtsman with 2-3 year of experience. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and their components (e.g., air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, ducting, piping). Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software. Understanding of HVAC design principles and industry standards. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Soft Skills: Attention to detail and ability to spot design flaws or discrepancies. Strong communication skills to interact with clients, engineers, and contractors. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in HVAC design or a related field. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Experience with energy-efficient HVAC systems and green building practices. Work Environment: Typically works in an office setting with occasional site visits for inspections or project meetings.
