Role/ Department:

Reporting into the Regional Payroll Manager, this role will be part of the wider Payroll team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll for all employees of Northern Trust across the region. The Payroll team deal with various departments across the business such as the HR Service Centre, Finance, Benefits, Compensation and Exec Compensation.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Perform daily payroll activities for the countries assigned to ensure production of assigned payrolls including complex and year-end activities.

Review adjustment requests to ensure compliance with corporate policies, employment tax & payroll laws.

Advise management of appropriate corrective action if an error occurs.

Record monthly payroll metrics

Respond to employee queries to explain pay and impact of policies, tax law and related changes.

Analyse existing policies & procedures to ensure compliance with tax & payroll-related laws and regulations.

Recommend and implement modifications of existing payroll processes, in compliance with laws and regulations.

Work with vendors and review payroll applications to ensure changes are correctly reflected on the payroll.

Participate in system testing, payroll implementations, process improvements & payroll projects.

Prepare payroll tax and general ledger accounts/activities; liaise with finance to reconcile discrepancies.

Research and monitor regulatory and legislative changes impacting payroll areas of responsibility.

Performs vendor management activities to ensure adherence to corporate vendor management standards.

Serves a key subject matter expert.

Review team members work; including but not limited to review of payroll input and manual calculations.

Cross Train & acquire knowledge of other team members payroll activities and perform back up support.

Represent the department in meetings.

Knowledge of workday is definite plus.

Skills/Qualifications

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

6-8 years of payroll experience dealing with multiple countries preferably in an MNC environment.

Previous experience with payroll vendors.

Knowledge of payroll processing including payroll production, reconciliation, tax and payroll related laws

Able to multi-task in a high paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvements.

Strong communication.

Attention to details

Ability to meet the deadlines.

Other areas of HR and finance.

Qualification : Graduate in commerce. A master degree is an added advantage.
