Job Description:
Firefighter Duties and Responsibilities:-
1) Drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles.
2) Test water hoses, fire extinguishers, and pumps.
3) Treat sick or injured people.
4) Make sure rehab is established.
5) Prepare and monitor report and issue citations for fire code violations that can be found during inspections.
6) Testifying in court when violations occured and when required.
7) Communication with the IC for additional safety support.
8) Assess traffic hazards and apparatus placement.
9) Monitor radio transmissions.
10) Conduct fire drills for buildings and make a report regarding on the training and drills that occurred.
11) Clean and maintain equipment.
12) Monitor conditions, operation, and other activities.
13) Make sure that the accountability system is being utilized.
14) Provide a risk assessment of incident scene operation using the incident action plan (IAP).
15) Assure the establishment of safety zones, hot zones, collapse zones, and other hazard areas.
16) Direct and command fire fighters in station maintenance duties.
Firefighter Skills
To become a qualified firefighter, you need to have
1. Good communication and teamwork skills
2. Practical skills in operating and using tools
3. Decision-making skills
4. Physical stamina and high level of physical fitness
5. Ability to respond quickly and remain calm
6. A high level of self-discipline
7. Ability to follow instructions and regulations
