About The Job As a technical writer at Brightly, youll provide clear information about our catalogue of products. This content includes product release notes, API reference documentation, user-focused guides, tutorials, sample code and other materials to cover our growing product and platform's features and capabilities. You will work closely with Brightly product, engineering, and design teams as we create a superior developer experience for our clients. As we grow, you'll get the benefit of our research into our customers" needs and the opportunity to help shape our developer offerings into a usable, clearly documented platform. You will develop and expand our developer portal, set standards for our information, and may eventually manage other writers. What Youll Be Doing: Write documentation for external users such as release notes, help site articles, API reference documentation, and developer guides Develop and use all types of content types (workflows / process schematics / instructional videos / developer consoles) to simplify the users understanding of Brightly products Learn complex concepts and communicate the information in a way that is engaging and understood by users Gather customer feedback on documentation to improve usability and support Understand product functionality release cadence working in conjunction with the product organization Build technical documentation that supports user understanding of the product of focus Create documentation in a timeline that aligns with the release of new features Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the business to understand the necessary requirements for the documentation Support the creation of technical API documentation for products as necessary Create documentation to support feature sets that may not have previously been documented What You Need: Bachelors degree or the equivalent in experience in English, Communication, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Writing, or Curriculum Development, or possess equivalent practical experience 1-3 years of industry experience as an effective technical writer Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content The ability to quickly research a topic and produce relevant content while maintaining business goals and guidelines Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion with minimum supervision Ability to collaborate with others and work cohesively within a team Preferred Skills: Previous experience with MadCap Flare Previous experience with Git repository management (e.g., Bitbucket) Firm understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) Previous software development experience Experience building API platforms, developer portals, or integrations between third party platforms The Brightly culture Were guided by a vision of community that serves the ambitions and wellbeing of all people, and our professional communities are no exception.
