Job Description
- Evaluate patients by reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Diagnose medical conditions, injuries, or illnesses based on symptoms, medical tests, and examinations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patients.
- Prescribe medications and treatments to manage or cure medical conditions.
- Perform medical procedures or surgeries when necessary, in line with the doctor's specialty.
- Provide compassionate and patient-centered care to individuals and families.
- Explain diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses to patients, answering any questions and addressing concerns.
- Offer guidance on lifestyle changes, preventative care, and health maintenance.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and follow up on outcomes.
- Maintain open communication with patients to ensure they understand their treatment plan and goals.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals (nurses, medical assistants, specialists, etc.) to coordinate care.
- Collaborate with medical teams for complex cases, consulting with specialists when needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff about diagnoses, treatments, and any changes in care.
- Provide support and guidance to medical residents, interns, or junior medical staff (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records in accordance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Document patient history, examination findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts.
- Prepare and submit required reports, such as progress notes, referrals, or insurance claims, in a timely manner.
- Advise patients on preventive care measures, including screenings, vaccinations, and lifestyle modifications.
- Educate patients on managing chronic conditions and improving overall health (e.g., nutrition, exercise, stress management).
- Promote public health initiatives through outreach, education, and awareness campaigns.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest medical advancements, research, and treatment methods through continuous education and professional development.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and training sessions to maintain licensure and expand knowledge.
- If applicable, engage in medical research to advance clinical practices or contribute to medical publications.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care when required (e.g., in an emergency room or urgent care setting).
- Stabilize patients in critical conditions and coordinate with emergency medical teams or specialists for further treatment.
- Adhere to healthcare regulations, medical standards, and institutional policies, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.
- Follow guidelines for infection control, medication administration, and patient privacy
- Obtain informed consent from patients before procedures or treatments.
