- Job Purpose Plan, monitor, and control the operation of Manufacturing activities to ensure the availability of high-quality extrusion dies. Ensure die manufacturing activities within budgeted costs and in a safe working environment. Adhere six sigma level of operations in die manufacturing. To ensure the full utilization of manufacturing resources and achieve best delivery and productivity norms. Conduct work, Motion studies to optimize resources including manpower and process flow. Capable to operate any of the machines in the central Dieshop in the absence of work center members. Should do die design and CNC programming as and when required. Autonomous maintenance of all die shop equipment. Job Context & Major Challenges Job Context: Hindalco is the country's largest Aluminium producer. Extrusion is a versatile and cost-effective metal forming process. Because Hindalco has three plants in addition to fourth one in the construction phase, the dies required at the plants are designed based on empirical knowledge and experience at their respective locations. As technology has evolved over time, new innovation has led to improved performance, and the market's demand for stringent quality products has compelled existing plants to upgrade their capabilities in terms of new die design and manufacturing setup with cutting-edge equipment. The die design and manufacturing cell will concentrate on practice standardization and technology transfer. It will concentrate on assisting the Plants in realizing their latent potential and mastering the die design concepts. To achieve continuous development activities in the product and process, the job necessitates critical die design and manufacturing via CAD system and Simulation. This must be accomplished through value addition in the design, manufacture, and repair of dies used to produce high-quality extruded products. The main aspect of the job would be to introduce innovative technologies at the plant in order to improve the team's productivity and efficiency. Job Challenges : Create dies based on customer specifications. Ensure the availability of high-quality dies for Extrusion Press production Innovate the die design process for critical dies, as die design is more art than science. Lowering the cost of die manufacturing. To shorten the time required for die development Preparing people for multi-skilled activities in all of machine centers Identify digital technology projects across the die shop to increase machine availability, die quality, and team efficiency. Continuous improvement through structured research and training methodology will improve domain expertise and ensure expert availability. Develop the necessary skill sets for operation and train the workforce Key Result Areas KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters)Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters) KRA1 Die Shop Operations Ensure utilization of all machines effectively Plan and monitor and execute the die manufacturing smoothly. Create sooth working environment between different work center members Ensure high quality of dies produced from Central Die shop. KRA10 Safety (To ensure safe work practices and procedures at work place) Monitor and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at work Regularly counsel workers to follow safe working procedures Maintain safe working conditions in the Die Shop. KRA2 Die modelling & Design To ensure solid modelling are accurate to prepare CNC programs Consider the manufacturing constraint in the design through modelling process to minimize the die manufacturing time. KRA3 Technology transfer Absorption of technology from technology partners/ Various other resources Implementation of the leading industry practices Ensuring key elements of the technology transfer agreement is implemented Managing the technology transfer relationship with the partner members KRA4 Customer Centricity To deliver dies on time to the plants Meet delivery schedules Support customers to develop new products, in terms of feasibility, Alternate options etc. Monitor and ensure the sample approval process is completed KRA5 Continuous Improvement Minimize the die development time from world standard. Upgrade the Die manufacturing continually as per new development tin the market. Control the die manufacturing cost KRA6 Cost Reduction (To implement effective utilization of resources to achieve minimum cost) To increase productivity To ensure the uses of high quality of steel for dies manufacturing considering the die criticality. To regularly upgrade the design for achieving best die results Eliminate errors from manufacturing Monitor and improve KPI through use of digital technologies and analytics projects Eliminate Muda in die manufacturing process KRA7 People Development (Build and develop skills of people to enable them to contribute effectively in operation.) Grievance redressal for healthy work culture Appraisal & Counseling for career growth Multi-skilling and on-the-job training Develop skills of all employees in Die Shops KRA8 Standardization of process Develop standard operating practices for die manufacturing Do standardization to minimize the cost KRA9 Digitalization and Projects Use MES ERP systems to track, Monitor the process Develop New ideas to digitalize the operations The position is not yet evaluated.
