Job Description
Naval architects typically do the following: Study design proposals and specifications to establish basic characteristics of a ship, such as its size, weight, and speed. Develop sectional and waterline curves of the ship's hull to establish the center of gravity, the ideal hull form, and data on buoyancy and stability
Is a naval architect a good job Indeed, aided by the breadth of their education, training and experience, professional Naval Architects are successful in top management posts in government, industry and commerce quite outside the maritime field.- Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in offshore structural design and analysis
- Proficiency in software such as SACS, SESAM, and STAAD
- Familiarity with international codes and standards such as API, DNV, and ABS
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Knowledge of project management principles is a plus
