Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic communications planning and implementation
1. Envision, develop, and execute communications in support of the organizations goals
2. Lead the design and implementation of communications strategies, plans, and activities to
build awareness, and visibility for Apnalaya among relevant target audiences
3. Initiate and implement the production of communication materials (print, digital, brand films,
video, audio-visual, etc.), and oversee the qualitative aspects of production, (e.g., quality
control, translation, review of layouts and graphic design)
4. Strengthen communications capacities within Apnalaya for more effective engagement of
relevant stakeholders to achieve the organizations objectives and raise visibility
5. Serve as the focal point for all effective communications coordination and collaboration with
external and internal stakeholders, for brand development and ensuring adherence to
all communication activities to Apnalaya's brand
Manage operating budgets for communications activities
Participation in organisationaorganizationaliscussions as appropriate
Digital communications
1. Strategise Apnalaya's digital presence
2. Conceptualise and implement online communications via emailers, newsletters, fundraising
and awareness campaigns
3. Working knowledge and understanding of digital platforms - SEO, SEM and social media and
platform-specific types of content with an objective to create awareness and raise funds
4. Develop compelling content for Apnalaya's digital platforms with a plan to attract and engage
donors and volunteers
5. Maintain and regularly update Apnalayas digital assets (eg. website, social media, blog) to
represent the objectives, activities and impact of the organisation
Media communications and relations
1. Develop and produce compelling written and multimedia content (press releases, press
statements, media and campaign Q&As, articles) to showcase Apnalayas experience, expertise,
evidence, and impact
2. Develop media strategy and deployment through traditional and digital communications
channels
3. Lead media relations for Apnalaya in coordination with management
4. Establish and maintain contacts with media houses, both English and regional, national, and
international
5. Organise and manage press conferences, news briefings, media interviews, visits, and public
events
6. Monitor relevant media coverage, keep abreast of news developments on relevant issues and
assess the general reaction of the public to the work of Apnalaya on the basis of information
Gathered
7. Lead and execute crisis communication plans and activities
Building and maintaining external partnerships
1. Facilitate the representation of Apnalaya with a wide array of external partners and
stakeholders
2. Develop and manage relationships with agencies/ consultants/ freelancers
Line of Communication:
The Communication Manager will report to CEO.
