RNs assess and identify patients' needs, then implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment. They also ensure that patient care is conducted according to the policies and standards of their employer, whether that is a hospital or another facility What are the five roles of the registered nurse Nurses care for injuries, administer medications, conduct frequent medical examinations, record detailed medical histories, monitor heart rate and blood pressure, perform diagnostic tests, operate medical equipment, draw blood, and admit/discharge patients according to physician orders. What are the responsibilities of a nurse Nurses are responsible for recognizing patients' symptoms, taking measures within their scope of practice to administer medications, providing other measures for symptom alleviation, and collaborating with other professionals to optimize patients' comfort and families' understanding and adaptation. When we say nurse, we most often are talking about registered nurses (RNs). RNs assist physicians in providing treatment to patients suffering from all types of illness and injury. Registered nurses provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients about their health and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. RNs are the backbone of medical care in hospitals, homes, schools and the military.
