Job description of Consultant, Medical Oncologist
Educational qualifications: MBBS from an MCI recognised college. MD/DNB in Internal Medicine from a recognised college in India or abroad and DM/DNB in Medical Oncology from a recognised college in India or abroad. A Fellowship in Bone marrow transplant is an additional qualification. The Consultant must have at least 5 years of experience in Medical Oncology from a reputed hospital in India, USA, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand
Medical Knowledge
The Medical Oncologist is responsible to co-ordinate the medical aspect of oncology care and is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of cases for medical management of oncology cases, both adult and pediatric. He should be a specialist in use of medications such as chemotherapeutic drugs, hormones, monoclonal antibodies and analgesics in cancer and pain management. The responsibility includes management, treatment and monitoring the patient throughout the course of the disease, including palliative care. Training and experience in Bone Marrow Transplant is an added qualification. He will also be a Faculty for the teaching programmes in the Department
Should be willing to work in a multi disciplinary team, whenever required.
Skill required:
Attitude: Practice evidence based medicine, good communication, willingness to work in a team. Availability for emergencies, up to date with current guidelines and protocols. Experience with electronic medical record of patient data
