Job Description

Overview:

The Research Specialist, under general supervision, will work closely with Team Leader and with the support Data Expert and to be familiar with advance expertise in planning, conducting, analyzing and research. They need to involve household interviews, in depth interviews, focus groups discussion, or other information gathering techniques. They compile information, identify and analyze important discoveries, and produce reports detailing their outcomes and findings. They also establish research guidelines and protocol, and design and implement electronic systems for managing important data. They may also train and supervise others in employing research tactics and strategies.

Perform with predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on the successful completion of tasks assigned.

Responsibilities
Desk Review of secondary data collection
Interprets historical, current, and projected data to identify problems, causes, and areas for which procedural or system changes are indicated.
Sampling using the secondary data for the primary data collection; use statistics to accurately represent the target population group
Diagnostic and prioritizing the sectors based on the interactions and secondary data.
Analyzes data sets using statistical methods and relational databases
Consults on research design, planning, Tools design, Protocol statistical analysis, and reporting with use a variety of statistical techniques and analytical software..
Development of survey tool (qualitative and quantitative) and pilot survey in CAPI
Training of data collection team
Devising and writing sophisticated Data Collection standard operating protocols and enforcement of data quality protocol with data management.
Identify issues / research queries, troubleshooting issues, and take the appropriate action to resolve the issues.
Proposing methods for improving the quality of research and team productivity.
Devise and write sophisticated experimental protocols, monitoring ongoing projects, and suggesting and implementing improvements.
Perform inspections, interviews and technical reviews and recommends enforcement actions as needed.
Monitor and support to data collection team on protocol and data management.
Compiles data and computes results, ensuring quality control and compliance with protocol, and provides initial analyses of results; makes substantive suggestions for improvements in techniques and interpretation, as appropriate.
Uses complex and/or advanced specialized statistical to process primary/secondary data.
Write protocols, technical reports, SOPs, and develop appropriate documentation for processes.
Prepares reports of research findings, researching data sets, documents data structure, and definitions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or control standards.
Knowledge of current developments/trends in area of expertise.
Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol.
Ability to adapt standard procedures, facilities and/or equipment to meet specific operational needs.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of experimental procedures and data analysis, manipulation, and reduction, within an area of research specialty.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
Ability to assess the validity and reliability of research data within an area of research specialty.
Ability to set up, operate, and maintain specialized, complex, and advanced experimental and/or test equipment.
Knowledge of advanced data analysis and statistical applications, programs, and techniques.
Ability to analyze research methodology, protocol, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements and modifications.
Requirements
Postgraduate in Management / Social Sciences / Public Policy / Economics with Phd preferably
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Interpersonal and communication skills. Keyboarding skills.
Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
Professional and technical writing/editing skills.
Oral communication skills
Graphic design skills
Kannada/English speaking and writing skills

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Travel: Travel to/around Karnataka State is required.
